Why NLP?
Let’s make this simpler with an example.
Imagine you are in a restaurant in a foreign country. How would you ask for a bowl of veg salad without pointing out at a pic? You’ll probably get a chicken meatball sub!
This is exactly what happens with our own sub conscious mind. We might think we are “ordering” more happiness, healthy relationship or peace with our brothers. But unless that’s what is showing up chances are that something is getting lost in translation.
There is a concept in NLP: the conscious mind is the goal setter; the unconscious mind is the goal getter. However, if you don’t know how to communicate what you want properly, chances are you’ll keep getting chicken meatball subs.
Say a genie offers you to change that one attitudinal thing or one habit about yourself. What would that be?
- I would like to quit smoking. OR
- I would like to quit procrastinating and spending so much time on whatsapp. OR
- Not to devour a whole bag of potato chips or tub of ice cream in one sitting.
Whatever it is, realize that your unconscious mind only does that because it thinks that’s what you want. (“Sir, here is your procrastination along with a smoke. I’ve also told the valet to bring up your emotional baggage as per your request. Will you need anything else?”)
NLP is the language for the brain. The user manual. Using NLP techniques, we can learn this language and start to tell our “server” what we exactly want.
NLP is more that a set of tools and techniques, as so many would put it. It is an attitude. It is a methodology of knowing how to achieve your goals and get results.
Here at Make New Ways, our mission, put simply is to empower our society. How does teaching NLP help achieve that? By giving you control of your mind, your emotional state, and your life!
That is what NLP is.
